SAFETY ALERT: IKEA HEMNES bookcase and glass-door cabinet
IKEA issued a safety notice for its HEMNES bookcase and glass-door cabinet. The affected products were sold from April 2010 to April 2017.
The shelves of the affected bookcases & glass-door cabinets may shrink and fall in temperate countries, causing injury.
Such phenomenon is observed in cold climates for households using indoor heaters. The warm and dry air may cause the shelves, which are made of wood, to dry and shrink in the process. Tropical countries like Singapore are unlikely to be affected by this but consumers who wish to exercise precautionary measures can contact IKEA to obtain a free kit containing longer shelf support pins.
